How to choose an EMDR Consultant

When we finish EMDR basic training, we step into our practices without a clear sense of what’s next. So, we default to using the traditional mindsets of our field as the driving force behind how we design and run our private practice. 

We keep our rates low and maintain a weekly client schedule, making us believe that a full practice is our marker of success.

We follow guidelines given by mentors, consultants, and even our clients, limiting the agency in our private practices.

And then with all of this conventional noise, we get packed into this tiny box and we become martyrs for our own cause. We end up run down, bummed out, and questioning what we’re even doing in the first place. 

I remember the weeks that never seemed to end, the lack of control I felt in my practice and the dismal feeling that I wasn’t getting what I needed from my practice. 

And then when my twins were born, all of the myths I was letting run my practice started to run my life. 

Eventually, enough was enough and I was done working in a practice that wasn’t working for me.
